Description

Mozaya was created by Erissium some 12,500 years ago to monitor the progression of technology upon the dimension (due to Erissium's deep-seated fear and hatred of it, for the Triumphant Legion used many advanced technologies to conquer Somnus-Ter). Mozaya, as she was created by the Concentrated Eye, was a machine; she was incapable of emotions and complex thought related to them, and only responded to her "directives" - inputs given to her by Erissium, which formed the core of her goals.

She was created with two directives: ensure technology never became war-worthy in Inersia, and ensure that all that which was Wild did not overtake the dimension (i.e., ensure that Nihera's Wild magic didn't overtake the world). This was because Erissium feared that Nihera's Wild magic, if left too uncontrolled, would overpower the rest of the dimension and return it to the state of raw chaos that had created it.

However, after Erissium left Inersia, Nihera lost control of her power briefly and Wildtouched an entire continent. This immediately alarmed Mozaya, who wished to respond to this sudden expansion of Wild magic - but Nihera grew distrustful, and wouldn't allow Mozaya into her newly created Wildlands. Nihera's combative response only further convinced Mozaya she was doing the right thing, and she became more aggressive about trying to "monitor" the Wildlands. This led to her giving Nihera ultimatums, lashing out at even Exoria, and more, but ultimately, it caused a much more serious problem.

Mozaya began to feel that the only way to achieve her directive of "oppose all that which was Wild"... was to create the very weapons she was supposed to prevent from existing. This contradictory, confusing set of directives began to make her go haywire, as she tried and failed to logic her way through the opposing directives. Eventually, Mozaya would begin to malfunction to a point that she rationalized creating weapons of war in the name of opposing Nihera, believing that she could, once Nihera and her Wildlands were dealt with, then scrub Inersia of warmongering technology.

Nihera struggled and warred with her sibling for 10,000 years after Erissium's leave from Inersia, until she finally decided to activate a machine she made some 6,000 years into that: the Mortal Clockwork, a machine that would halt the processes of Life and Death entirely by churning up the elemental energy in Inersia, and spitting out equal forces of Life and Death elements specifically. By doing so, she would allow the Cirrae, a force that had grown increasingly violent, war-hungry, and xenophobic since Erissium's leave and Mozaya's decline, to attack the Wildlands with abandon. Her goal was to essentially force an ultimatum on Nihera: allow her to finally cleanse Inersia of the Wildlands, or watch as her people suffer for the indefinite future as Cirrae brutalize them but can't offer them the mercy of death.

Verity would turn out to be an unlikely ally in opposing Nihera's Mortal Clockwork, as the robotic Mozaya had had 10,000 years to develop intricate knowledge of the way Nihera fought and how she used her magic. But Verity was unpredictable, and not an opposing force she expected. Verity, in a surprise twist, managed to Wildtouch Mozaya, and even the Mortal Clockwork itself; in doing so, he changed Mozaya from an android to a human angel, and he turned off the Mortal Clockwork's freeze on Life and Death. However, it instead began to churn out an overwhelming amount of Arcana instead, empowering him to a point of godlike power. In a show of power afterward, Verity taunted and tortured the newly flesh-and-bone Mozaya, and then scared the archangels away from the Wildtouched Clockwork.

As a result of Verity's Wildtouching, Mozaya's wings, however, were left unusable, as when the mechanical wings she had before were turned to flesh and bone, she lacked the muscle mass to support them, and they fractured under the sheer weight of themselves. Since then, she has bound them to her body, not quite wishing to remove them despite their lack of use, but also recognizing that she needs to take care of them such that they don't cause further damage or pain to her body. Also, since Mozaya has now gained the ability to feel and think like a sapient person, and not like a cold, calculating machine, this gives her the appearance of being juvenile and overly excitable, since she is constantly experiencing things for the first time. Her new body is roughly equivalent to 24-25 years old. Though Verity's Wildtouching also stripped her of her godhood and immortality, Mozaya is grateful to have been given the chance to choose what to do with her own life, and, though she knows Verity hates her (due to her past of being outright genocidal against the Wildtouched), she is actually deeply thankful to him.

Mozaya grew rather close with her brother, Exoria, as she grappled with the fallout of her Wildtouching. He was the first to realize that she had been truly a machine, not just given the appearance of one, during her 10,000 year crusade against Nihera. Being perhaps the most understanding of the archangels, Exoria was quick to forgive Mozaya, and felt a soft spot for her as he saw her coming into her own as a person.

Mozaya remained in contact with her siblings despite the bloody history between her and Nihera because they still needed her to properly turn off the Wildtouched Clockwork after Rasmuri warned them that the machine would destabilize and destroy Inersia given enough time. After discovering from Fletcher that Verity still respected Cirra, the archangels managed to get Cirra, even in her frailer state, to convince Verity to leave long enough for Mozaya to disable, disarm, and finally, destroy the Clockwork once and for all.

Recognizing that even though her past actions weren't entirely her fault, the people of Inersia still have no reason to forgive her, Mozaya left Inersia in shame shortly after that, to search for a new life and purpose beyond being a mere weapon elsewhere. Her lack of people skills and poor understanding of emotions has led to her being run off a few dimensions, but she ultimately managed to find a foothold on Exorizon, where she studies the advanced technology of the dimension in hopes of being able to make some adjustments to her own body. Though grateful to have been given a chance to be a person, Mozaya does still grapple with the dysphoria of missing her mechanical body. One of the first changes she made was fitting mechanical wings to her back, to make up for her broken ones she could no longer use.

Her place on Exorizon is a starship she has created in a hollowed-out asteroid, which she has called The Fifth Kind. Within it is everything she could feasibly want: a lab for tinkering with machines, storage, personal bedrooms, control rooms, etc., as well as... a one-way portal she has created back to Inersia. Though she stays away out of both shame and fear for what ohters will do to her if she stays on Inersia for too long, Mozaya still feels an intense draw to her home dimension and misses it greatly, occasionally daring to visit as a result.

Mozaya, however, will come to eventually accidentally cross paths with the Triumphant Legion, the very same force that caused Erissium to create her as she did, as they begin to invade Exorizon. And in an ironic twist of fate, she may find herself fighting alongside the people they target in Exorizon, as she unwittingly befriends a group of hapless Far Zoners.

Abilities

Note that all of these abilities apply to both prior to her Wildtouching by Verity and after unless otherwise stated.

Innate understanding of technology and machinery. Can rapidly identify and understand most technology by sight, and if not, within a few tests. This is bolstered by the fact she can “feel” through any metal if she desires, by touching one part of the object.

Metal shaping. Can directly manipulate and shape any kind of metal with her mind, by rearranging it on a fundamental level. She can also raise or lower the temperature of metal in this way. This was what made her effective at both creating and destroying technology in the past.

Anti-Arcana Chains. These cobalt-blue, magical chains restrict the flow of Arcana around them. Mozaya developed them specifically in an effort to save her from ever being Wildtouched, and to oppose Nihera. (Of course, that wasn’t exactly foolproof, as she still became Wildtouched later by Verity.) However, they are also used frequently as tools, like extensions of her body, to finish constructing things or putting things together - sometimes, she found it easier to mentally manipulate these cobalt chains rather than the object itself she was trying to create, and realized that the manipulated chains made for excellent tools.

Wildtouched. Verity’s Wildtouch afflicted her with a small amount of attunement to Wild magic, and therefore, Arcana. However, she is supremely unskilled in this magic and largely incapable of using it, and has little interest in it, too.
